| Back in the historic 1800's, primitive hooked rugs were being made in early American homes to cover drafty floors by our "log cabin" sisters. They tore old wool clothes into strips which they hooked through burlap gunny sacks or other loosely woven textiles with a primitive tool resembling a crochet hook until the sack was covered with some design.
The rugs were simple folk art designs of their family, gardens, pets and events.
My rug patterns and kits are designed like these historic rugs with hand dyed wools and rich aged colors. | |
